If you’ve ever used a DTP program, you’ll be right at home. Shapes, lines, curves, banners, text art and other items can be drawn on the page, text boxes can be inserted and styled, tables created and so on.
Pages can be cloned and then the text and images replaced to create new pages without much effort.Ī master template can be created that contains elements like the site header and footer, sidebar, menus and links to contacts, about, feedback forms and so on. You could then create different page designs for various sections of the website and use them as templates to add content. Unique pages can be created, such as the front page, with content such as headlines and article snippets, images and links to the rest of the pages. Since my own website has been growing for 15 years and is text intensive, using WYSIWYG Web Builder to give it a modern look has become a dubious process.In many ways it’s like creating a newsletter or magazine with a desktop publishing package. A second big issue is that long CSS text blocks in the program do bad things when they are published into a website. Old fashioned cut and paste (which destroys all formatting) is the only reliable way to get content into this program. No matter how you play with imported content, no matter what the property menu says, and no matter what it looks like within the program, imported content once republished will not retain proper positioning or much formatting. However once you do that, then try to publish, the headaches begin. The program claims to import HTML, and indeed it does. Working at a fairly simple level within WYSIWYG Web Builder, it works at advertised, and that is all that most people will need. I bought this program, and have some regrets.
